In Memory of my Mother, Nancy Wright. She was in a nursing home for 8 years. I learned a lot about Elder Care.
I NOTICED A PROBLEM!! I bought my mom 3 new pair of socks every 3 months. They kept getting lost in the laundry. She would become anxious when she had less than 3 pair.
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SOCKS? 1. The same sock monster that visits your dryer eats them. . 2. The name on the socks gets washed out over time .. 3. The laundry loses them. 4. Who knows? PEOPLE IN NURSING HOMES NEED SOCKS !! If you drop Grandma off at a nursing home and 3 years later still expect her to have socks, that's not going to happen. HERE'S THE SOLUTION: Myself and a team of volunteers will go to the nursing homes in Georgetown TX every 6 months and provide socks to anyone who needs them. These socks will have an iron on sticker that says "Sock it to me" and a space to write their name in black marker. Especially through the winter months, everyone should have enough socks to wear and not have to worry. And there's another benefit! These socks will be delivered by a kind loving person who can spend a little time with them. Because if someone doesn't have socks, they may not get many visits either.
